Sucked in by online hype, particularly the effectiveness of the 3D effects.
Very visually engaging and yeah floating bolts and debris floats RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU! On the other hand, characterization/backstory seemed pretty pedestrian to me. And I swear, I didn’t feel like Sandra Bullock had fantastic acting chops in this project. I mean, she’s floating in Zero G and… she sure has a nice figure in a grey t-shirt and shorts.
The 3D was a lot more vivid in AVATAR. Of course this movie has more POV spinning outta control shots. There ought to be a warning for those who barf because of shaky camera AND 3D trickery. What’s the MPAA rating for physical nausea?
One admirable trait: a 90-minute running time. I honestly can NOT remember the last Hollywood movie I’ve saw in a theater that ran less than two hours. A decade-plus, maybe.
